Weekend Ramblings: Bestie, MAC, Lakme, Rimmel, Sandals and A Rant!

Hey Everyone!

So finally after a month and a half I gave in and hauled some of the stuff I had been eyeing since a long time! This officially is my first haul after I came back from KL! Yesterday I met up with my bestie V and had loads of fun, I was meeting her after a gap of almost 10 months so we had lots to catch up! We both love having Gujarati thali so we headed to Mayur restaurant at J.M.Road where you get one of the best thali in terms of authentic Gujarati taste in Pune!

Me and V, this pic almost 2 yrs old :)

Later on we went to Lakshmi road to do some chappal shopping, I wanted some everyday wear sandals and some other stuff for home. There were sales in almost every shop we went, I got 2 pairs of sandals one flat and one with a small heel. I usually stick to flats since they are the most comfortable for me but I am trying to incorporate heels since D likes me in heels more :D

Loved these for simple indian look and oh so comfortable!

I fell in love with olive bronze shade, very unique and will go with lots of my Indian outfits!

Finally visited MAC at Koregaon Park Plaza the only MAC storewe have in Pune. And this is where my Rant begins! I went to check out the new Temperature Rising Collection and newly launched Pro Long Wear Paint Pots. I specifically wanted the Layin' Low paint pot which is a gorgeos beige nude shade and very apt for everyday wear. As usual they didnt have Layin' Low available! Why MAC why?

Most of the items in Temperature Rising Collection were also out of stock including the oh so gorgeous Ripe For Love blush! The shocking part were the prices! The bronzers were for 2050 and blushes for 1600 and they weren't even the mineralize ones! This is totally insane! Also the blush powder refills are now for 1150 whereas the Sheertone blush refills for 1250! On top of that the SA who was assisting me was completely untrained and was not even aware of the prices! Which ever products prices I asked she had only one answer I'll have to check! I knew the new prices of blushes myself and she didnt!

Most of all she lacked the basic knowledge of products as well! I asked her to show a good matte contour shade and she handed me a shimmery bronzer! I know bronzers can be used for contouring as well but thats not their original purpose. I wanted to get MAC Pro Long Wear concealer and MAC Face and Body foundation and so requested for a sample but she flatly refused saying they don't have empty cases which I am sure was a lie! How on earth does MAC expect us to buy a 2k foundation without even giving a sample?

Overall I really was annoyed and upset with the whole experience and don't think would visit that store again! I am sure this is not the case with other MAC stores. I would rather buy from MAC stores in Mumbai as I find the SA's to be generally very helpful and friendly there! Also with such high prices I don't think I would be splurging on MAC anymore now apart from the basic stuff. I don't mind paying high prices until and unless the prices are justified.

Anyways I did pick up MAC Brush Cleanser and couple of blush refills which I was eyeing since a long time  now ~ Mocha and Peaches, review will follow soon.

Also got Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Lakme CC cream in the shade Bronze and my HG face wash Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Foam....the best face wash ever....period!

Oh my dessert for this weekend :) I think I will be having Dairy Milk Silk almost after a year now! We didnt get this in Malaysia :(

Hope everyone's having a great weekend, did you pick up anything from Temperature Rising Collection?

Until next time take care and stay beautiful!

Love,

  4. no Parita I guess MAC has changed their policy...
cos last week I went to Malad wala MAC and hauled so much and when I asked for a foundation sample the SA bluntly said that they don't give out samples!
I was a lil disappointed with the SA's attitude, cos it's not like I'm visiting the store just for a sample! I'm buying so much stuff aswell!:/

    3. Hey Rachna..you are lucky to stay in US :) in MAC blushes check out fleur power, mocha, gingerly, peaches..all these are matte and will look gorgeous on medium skin tones, in more shimmery to satin finish you can check out ambering rose, breezy, dainty and gentle. Apart from MAC theBalm and Nars make some awesome blushes!
For drugstore definitely get NYX blushes..they cost around 4$ and have huge variety, check out Peach, Spice, Mauve and Dessert Rose.
For concealer MAC Pro Long wear is really good, in drugstore Revlon PhotoReady concealer and Maybelline Age Rewind concealers are good..even NYX has a HD Wand concealer..again a good product...hope this helps :)

  9. I dont like MAC products as well. I think they are highly over priced. The products are not at all worth it. NOw, I shop at either Sephora or EL. Their pros are also expensive but they are so worth it that I dont mind spending money on them at all.
