Hey Everyone!
I have been itching to do a simple black smokey eyes which can be worn during day time easily and this is what I came up with!
I love such sultry and simple looks especially for the day time since they bring a lot of dimension to the face without being over the top! So if you want to see how I did this look, just keep on reading!
Step1:- As always start by priming your eyes, since we are doing smokey eyes I have used a darker shade to prime my eyes ie MAC Groundwork Paint Pot instead of my MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot.
Step2:- Apply a kohl pencil on top lashline as close to the lashes as possible. Don't worry about being precise since we will be smudging this anyway.
Step3:- Smudge the liner upto crease, you can use a smudge brush here or your fingers for this.
Step4:- Now apply a matte black eyeshadow on top of the smudged liner, make sure you don't take it up too high. The shadow should be just below crease
Step5:- Using a stiff blending brush like MAC 217, take any matte brown eyeshadow and apply it on your outer corners blending upwards into the crease. This will soften the look and help us blend the black eyeshadow in the crease. I have used NYX Single Eyeshadow in Brown but you can use MAC Cork/Wedge/Soba or any other matte brown you have in your collection.
Step6:- After blending a matte brown eyeshadow it should look something like this :)
Step7:- Line your waterline and lower lashline with a kohl and smudge out using the same brown we used in the crease, again I have used NYX Brown.
Step8:- Clean your under eye area and apply your concealer and don't forget to set it with a powder. I always use Ben Nye Banana Powder. Apply some mascara preferably which give natural look since we are going for very everyday kind of look here. Also apply a brow bone highlight preferably satin finish since all the eyeshadows are matte.
I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial, do let me know what you think of it in the comment box below.
Until next time take care and stay beautiful!

Deletehi parita....a couple of question...am clueless about a lot of stuff ...even the basics!
ReplyDeleteso u say prime ur eyes.so if one is putting a foundation on the rest of the face, then when do
u use the primer? and if i just want to do the eyes, should i use just the primer for the eyes?
i have wheatish skin.which primer would u suggest?
will invest in a black and brown eye shadow.any recommendations??
also a good kohl pencil....
many thanks!
Hi Jugnual..first of all so sorry for the delay in response...eye primer is a must if you have very oily eyelids to prevent the eyeshadows from creasing...for starters you can use a concealer on the eyelids for priming just make sure you set your concealer with a powder...good primers in indian market are from MAC..check out Soft Ochre, Painterly and Groundwork from MAC. Check out Inglot freedom system refills for black and brown shades..they have an amazing range of colors and different finishes right from Matte, Pearl and Sparkles! I love Lakme Absolute Kohl or Lakme Eyekonic kohl..both are pretty amazing..for gel liners Maybelline Gel Liner is best from drugstore! I hope this helps
