Diorskin Poudre Shimmer in 002 Amber Diamond Review and FOTD

Diorskin Poudre Shimmer in 002 Amber Diamond was a gift from Mr D when he was returning back from Swiss couple of years back and I still remember I was completely shocked and surprised that he picked up this beauty for me since he has absolutely no knowledge about makeup whatsoever! When asked he plainly shrugged and said it looked classy and stood out on the counter and hence picked that up! Men I tell ya...

Anyways back then I really had no idea about what highlighters are and how to use them. Dior describes these beauties as Ultra Shimmering All Over Face Powder. Diorskin Poudre Shimmer comes in two shades

001 Rose Diamond - pearl/pink/mauve/soft plum/pink
002 Amber Diamond - ivory/champagne/tan/bronze/peach

The one Mr D got was fortunately 002 Amber Diamond which has very warm shades like gold/bronze and peaches and they suit perfectly to my skin tone! For reference I am NC40-42 in MAC.

I absolutely adore the packaging! It comes in bright and shiny blue color box packaging with the a velvet cover. It looks and feels so classy...I absolutely love it! The powder also comes with a big mirror which is very convenient in case of touch ups or when you are travelling. It does not come with a brush which is a shame coz for the price I they should definitely include a brush as well!

Now I have combination to oily skin with lots of imperfections on my face so I purposefully stay away from shimmers and glitters of any kind which will highlight those imperfections. That's the reason why I don't own a bunch of different highlighters since I don't use them very often and definitely not on regular basis.

Recently my skin is doing much better so I started to use highlighters and am absolutely loving it! I pick up Amber Diamond whenever I want a very subtle and warm glow to the skin. The shades are so beautifully warm with golds/peaches/bronze that looks very natural on my skin tone!

The texture of the powder is extremely finely milled and blends beautifully! I love how fine the pigments are in this powder, it does not contain any chunky glitter or shimmer so works really well without highlighting any pores or imperfections.

Another plus point would be that it would work across all skin tones and all skin types beautifully! I know I have used that word again and again in this review..but can't help it :)

Also I feel its a little difficult to go overboard with this one since it imparts very subtle glow as you can see in the blended swatch and also if you look carefully the powders are not loaded with color pigments so even if you overdo it, it still gives you that subtle glow and not golden/bronze color loaded on your cheeks! No wonder they sell it as all over face powder!

Please excuse the crappy swatches! My camera has washed out the colors but they appear exactly the same as they look in the pan! I find the best way to apply this powder is using a fan brush. It applies the highlight on cheeks flawlessly and gives very subtle glow.

The pigmentation is fantastic and it stays on for 6 to 7 hours on me. This is hands down the most expensive product in my collection and I absolutely adore it! It is one of the best highlighters in the market!

This is how it looks on me, I have applied the powder only on the top of my cheekbones using Sedona Lace Fan Brush

I know its an expensive product but I feel its definitely worth it! If you want to splurge on an highlighter I'd highly recommend you to check this out plus the size is huge so will last you a long long time!
