Makeup Basics - How To Conceal Under Eye Dark Circles - Step By Step

Hey everyone!

One of the most common questions I get queries on are on under eye dark circles and how to cover/hide them. So I thought let me do a step by step procedure on how I hide my under eye dark circles and which all products I use. Now please bear in mind I have extremely dark under eye circles due to heredity so this may seem a bit extreme for you but this is how I cover the darkness around my eyes to make them appear brighter and fresh looking. You may not need so many steps and could always skip any if you don't have heavy dark circles like me.

Before I go ahead with the tutorial let me tell you about the Color Correctors. There are various color correctors available in the market ranging from Green, Lilac to Pinks and Peaches. Each of these serve different purpose. Green counteracts redness so if you have redness on your cheeks use a green correctors to neutralize them, Lilac is used for dull or sallow skin to brighten the complexion up. Pink and Peach correctors are used for covering up brown spots, pigmentation and darkness under the eyes.

For indian skin tones peach/orange color correctors work the best since it counteracts the bluish purplish darkness under the eyes and makes them appear brighter! Unfortunately in our Indian market we don't find orange/peach correctors easily....few of them which are available are from Kryolan, MAC and recently launched Bobbi Brown. But today I'll show you how to cover up those nasty dark circles using a product which is easily available in the market and any online store! The hero is Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce n Tangy!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce n Tangy is perfect to use under the eyes since it counteracts the dark bluish and purplish circles effectively and the formula is such that it does not crease!

Products which I use:-
-> Eye cream (I use Simple eye cream)
-> Orange color corrector (Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce n Tangy)
-> Colorbar Concealer Stick in 003 Almond Coffee

Step1:- I always start by applying an eye cream around my eyes since I have extremely dry and sensitive skin around eyes. Also applying eye cream first will help your concealer to go on more smoothly and blend easily.

Step2:- Apply Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce n Tangy under the eyes and the inner corners where there is extreme darkness. I also apply it all over my lids since I have dark eyelids. Use your ring finger and gently tap the color tattoo.

Step3:- Next apply a concealer which is closer to your skin tone or a shade light, I use Colorbar Stick Concealer in 003 Almond Coffee and its perfect match for my skin tone. Apply the concealer in an upside down triangle to obtain a brighter under eye area.

Step4:- Again using your ring finger gently pat the concealer on the skin until it blends in. Next apply a loose setting powder, my favorite is Ben Nye Banana Powder. Banana powder works really well since it has yellow tones which gives that brightening effect under the eyes and stops the concealer from creasing!

You can see the difference between the left and the right eye and how well the color tattoo covers the extreme darkness around the eyes!

I hope this tutorial was helpful to you all, if you have any questions please do leave them below in the comment box and I will get back to you soon

Until next time take care and stay beautiful!

Love,

    1. Hi Bushra..mac studio fix fluid does oxidize a lot..i would suggest you to give mac pro long wear foundaion a try or mac matchmaster..i have tried both n they didnt oxidize on me..also get a mattifying primer..i know mac makes a mattifying gel which you can use on your T-zone..for under eyes i really like the texture of mac pro long wear concealer..get sample of couple of shades n see which suites you..ideally it should not oxidise...for under eye setting powder Ben Nye Banana Powder is really good..kryolan has a mattifying powder which is good ..you could give the small jar a try to see if it works for you or else check out MAC Blot powder..i haven't tried but heard its very good...hope this helps :)

  9. Hi Sailee..if I am not wrong Kryolan has a flagship store in Andheri and town side in mumbai..you can check for the exact address on their website, ben nye banana powder is available at Beauty Center Kandivali and Khar stores..I would suggest you to go for Banana Powder shade only since it works really well in brightening the under eye area..please use a good moisturizer for your skin around the eyes..since dry skin tends to turn dark very easily so always keep your skin around eyes well moisturized..also try using sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful rays..if you cant find kryolan check out NW range concealers from MAC..my personally like pro long wear concealer a lot..hope this helps
