Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser Review

Hey Everyone!

For those who have known me for a while or if you have been following me would know that lately I have been obsessed with skincare and am always trying to find items which work best for my skin without breaking the bank. Skincare can be very expensive and to find a drugstore product which works just as good as a higher end product expensive product is always a cherry on the cake! For the longest time I was searching for a good fuss free cleanser for my morning time routine. I have been using my Sebamed Clear Face Cleanser for the longest time and I still do rotate it depending how my skin is feeling that day.

Few months back I came this fantastic article about the Importance of PH Balanced products and how this can help to strengthen the moisture barrier of our skin. Now I already knew the concept of PH balance and moisture barrier as I was using Sebamed products which are PH balanced but what I did not know was how I can use this same concept to strengthen my skin's moisture barrier and eliminate acne! If you are a skincare junkie like me and are interested to know more about PH balance and moisture barrier just go to Kerry's article here

Most of you would know our skin is made up of multiple layers and the outer most layer known as the Stratum corneum also known as the moisture barrier protects our skin from bacteria, pollution etc but when this barrier is compromised we start experiencing irritation, acne, redness, dryness, sensitivity etc. In general the PH level of skin's moisture barrier is between 4.0-6.0 which helps in maintaining healthy skin but by using harsh cleansers having higher PH value > 6 or 7 it can disrupt the moisture barrier of our skin making our skin sensitive to bacteria, pollution, irritants etc. Basically the moisture barrier acts like a protective shield which protects our skin from bacterial and other harmful pollutants.

In her list of favorite cleansers having low PH value Kerry mentioned the Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser and I was immediately intrigued and ordered it the next day!

Cerave is a pharmacy brand and makes some really good products for sensitive skin and this cleanser is definitely one of them! This is not a makeup remover its a cleanser for face and yes there is a difference between removing your makeup and cleansing your face! I typically use this in the mornings and/or sometimes in the evenings if I am not wearing any makeup that time. If I am wearing makeup I always go for double cleanse..more on it later so keep your eyes peeled for future posts. Cerave makes 2 types of cleansers one for dry skin which is more hydrating and one for normal to oily skin which is the one I use since I do have combination to oily skin.

Its absolutely fabulous fuss free cleanser which cleanses gently, does not dry out my skin ie does not disrupt the moisture barrier of the skin, its fragrance free which is a huge plus in my books since a lot of times my skin reacts to fragrances in skincare products and the cleanser contains good ingredients for skin like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and ceramides. The cleanser comes in a huge bottle of 355 ml of product with a pump, even if you use it every day it will easily last you 3-4 months since you just need a dime size amount each time. Its transparent and feel extremely gentle on skin. Not sure how to explain but when I use this cleanser it feels like I am pampering my skin and not torturing like other harsh foaming cleansers can be! The skin feels amazingly soft and supple afterwards.

Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser has definitely made it to my list of top favorite cleansers of all time and the one I will never be without! If you are in the market for a gentle yet effective facial cleanser definitely give it a try. I seriously cannot find a single issue with this cleanser apart from availability issue in India but I ordered mine last year via Amazon and its a bit expensive but totally worth it! In US its easily available across all major drugstores like CVS, Walmart, Walgreens etc. I picked up mine at Walmart on sale for 8.99$

Rating:- 5 out of 5!

  2. Parita, you are my new skin care go to :) I alternate between the Bare Minerals Purifying Cleanser and the First Aid Beauty cleanser at night. I use a gentle Whole Foods cleanser in the morning. These seem to be doing the job for now, but I'm always on the lookout for better cleansers ;-)
