Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Cocoa Bear, Frappe, Latte, Purely Naked and Fairy Tale Review and Swatches

We all know who Makeup Geek is right? If you don't you are definitely living under a rock! Marlena aka Makeup Geek is a you tube beauty guru and has been making videos since quite a long time. She recently ok not recently but couple of years launched her brand of makeup which currently includes eyeshadows, pigments and lipsticks! I had heard so much about MUG eyeshadows that they are comparable and in some cases even better than MAC ones plus a lot cheaper than MAC, I decided to give them a try.

MUG eyeshadows come in two range, the refill pans which retail for 5.99$ and compact ones which are priced at 7.99$. Both contain 1.8g of product. I have the refill ones and store them in my MAC palette. All MUG eyeshadows are Talc Free, Paraben Free and Cruelty Free! (No animal testing)

Packaging:- I absolutely adore the colorful paper case packaging! Its gorgeous! The refill pans are packed with a flip open paper as you can see below.

I currently own 5 of Makeup Geek eyeshadows - Cocoa Bear, Frappe, Purely Naked, Latte and Fairy Tale. Lets see what Marlena says about these

Cocoa Bear:- Matte reddish brown. The cocoa bear is soft, snuggly, and keeps you safe from the boogey monster. Just a fair warning, however, this warm and rich brown color makes people want to snuggle up close to you.

My Thoughts:- First of all let me say that I love the descriptions of each eyeshadow given by Marlena! I think its cute and love the way Marlena has given her personal touch in the descriptions! Very creative! Now lets talk about the shade Cocoa Bear. I love warm reddish brown shades a lot! Cocoa Bear is highly pigmented with matte texture and goes smoothly on the eyes. Its exact dupe for MAC Brownscript eyeshadow. I love to use this shade to deepen the crease and just add a bit of warmth to the look. Very flattering on olive/tan skin tones!

Frappe:-  Medium Mapple Brown Matte. Named after one of our favorite guilty pleasures this medium maple brown color will have you coming back for more. The matte color has a creamy texture and glides on smoothly and evenly for a stunning finish. Ideal for the summer months for a soft wash of color or paired up with a darker shade for a perfect brown eye. This also makes a great transition color for darker skintones.

My Thoughts:- Another of my favorite eyeshadow from MUG! Frappe is gorgeous medium brown shade with soft buttery smooth texture. Its a matte eyeshadow but does not feel dry or chalky at all! Super pigmented and is perfect for blending harsh edges in the crease or even as an all over the lid shade!

Latte:- Medium Matte Brown. Start your day right with the warm, creamy goodness of this shadow. It may not satisfy your caffeine fix, but it will feed your cosmetic addiction one MUG at a time. 

My Thoughts:- Latte is a medium warm brown with yellow undertones. Again soft butter texture and highly pigmented. This is one of the best colors for deepening the outer crease area.

Purely Naked:- Shimmery Tan. Get naked with this soft shimmery nude color- it looks great with the lights on or off. 

My Thoughts:- I picked this up because I thought it would be similar to MAC Texture eyeshadow but unfortunately its no where close but that does not mean its not a gorgeous shade! Its perfect light brown shade for all over the lids. The texture is buttery smooth and though its almost matte it does contain very tiny shimmer particles but which looks gorgeous on eyelids! 

Fairy Tale:- Pale Matte Lavender. We can’t promise you a prince charming or pick you up in a horse drawn carriage, but we can suggest this soft lavender shadow - it will help make your cosmetic dreams come true…

My Thoughts:- Fairy Tale is a unique shade and I don't have anything like this in my collection. Out of the bunch this is my least favorite as the texture though being smooth and buttery have some fall outs. This shade works excellent in the crease and even as all over the lids shade with darker browns in the crease.
