Essence Gel Eyeliner 01 Midnight In Paris Review, Swatch and EOTD

Hey Everyone!

Essence Gel Eyeliner

Apologize for being mia since a week but things at work were crazy  plus my sister was visiting me so with all the stuff that was happening I couldn't find time to write a blog post. I recently finished off my Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner which if you have been a regular reader of my blog you would know was my go to liner since last 4 to 5 months so I thought before I go ahead and buy a new felt tip liner let me dig in on my existing gel liner collection!

Previously I have used Maybelline Gel Liner and L'oreal Gel Eyeliners out of which I really loved Maybelline one a lot. Earlier this year when I was in KL I came across Essence brand products and literally grabbed the last piece of their ever so famous Gel Eyeliner Midnight In Paris which have been raved so much among the beauty bloggers community and even said to be an exact dupe for MAC fluidlines! Yup! Anyways so did it match up to the hype? Lets find out :)

Essence Gel Eyeliner Midnight In Paris

Essence Gel Eyeliner 01 Midnight In Paris comes in tiny glass jar very similar to the maybelline and l'oreal gel liners. The formula is creamy and practically glides on the eyelids. The shade is nice jet black but definitely not the blackest black! I feel maybelline's gel liner is much deeper black..will compare both of them soon!

Even though it looks quite deep black on my hand swatch for some reason I don't get the same amount of opacity and dark color on my lids, I need to go over the liner a couple of times to get a richer darker black color. This liner sets super fast! So you need to be quick if you want to smudge out the liner coz once it sets it does not budge at all!  The formula is creamy and settles down to a matte finish.

I have extremely dry eye lids and most of the liners on me don't smudge or fade and this gel liner is no different. It stays on my eyes through out the day until I remove it with a makeup remover. However I have this really an annoying habit of rubbing my eyes every now and then and I have found that this liner does flake off if I rub my eyes heavily! I feel its because I do layer the liner couple of times to get that intense black color, so layering it definitely will not work if you are in habit of rubbing your eyes every now and then.

As for the waterproof claim it definitely is true! Its is very much waterproof and sweat proof and does not start running down your eyes when it comes in contact with water. You definitely need a good makeup remover to remove it completely at the end of the day.

Essence Gel Eyeliner Midnight In Paris retails for 3$ to 4$ and I bought it for around 6RM or 7RM which is between 150-200 INR. For the price its definitely a fantastic gel liner and if you are on a budget or a beginner I would highly recommend this to you!  It does not irritate my skin around my eyes, I have even used it on waterline and it didn't burn or irritate there either so its a big plus coz i have very dry and sensitive skin around my eyes.

Essence Gel Eyeliner Midnight In Paris Review

Rating:- 4 out of 5

Overall I'd say it is a great gel eye liner but I doubt I'd repurchase it! I still like my maybelline one better just because the shade is darker and I love my deep dark jet blacks!

I hope the review was helpful, until next time take care and stay beautiful!

Love,

  7. The price is really great. I guess it will be good for girls who want to try out gel liners but aren't very sure. They can get this one and then invest in a costlier product. Loved your winged liner :)
